Bauer, Pardieck lead strong CC showing at Cleland Invitational

Mike Bauer and Hailey Pardieck led a strong showing for the New Palestine cross country teams at Saturday's season-opening John Cleland Invitational at Northview Christian Church in Carmel. Bauer was third in both the junior/senior race and overall, running a 4K time of 12:30. Pardieck was sixth in the junior/senior girls race and 13th overall, witih a 4K of 15:06. They were among four medalists in the event, which runs a junior/senior and a freshman/sophomore race, and also posts combined results. The top 20 in each race earn medals. Dragons cross country opened their season at the John Cleland Invitational in Carmel. The freshman/sophomore girls placed 6th out of 17 teams with top 20 performances from Elena Daugherty (19th) and Adi Smith (20th). The Dragons final scorers include Brynn Richey (26th), Willa Novotny (43rd), and Claire Blum (51st). Daugherty, Pardieck and Smith all earned medals for finishing top 20, while Richey earned a ribbon for being Top 26. The boys freshman/sophomores placed 12th of the 18 teams, with strong performances from Micah Jones placing 35th, and Greyson Moore placing 80th. Other scorers were Parker Patterson (105th), Tyler Weimer (108th), and Liam Bartemus (125th). Jones earned a ribbon. The junior/senior girls, led by Pardieck, placed 8th out of 15 schools. Pardieck placed 6th, with other scorers including Bre Journay (53rd), Taylor Stone (75th), Poppy Pucillo (99th), and Kylie Knoop (111th). The junior/senior boys placed 7th of 17 with a leading performance by Mike Bauer, placing third. Carson Cooper and Gabe Silvey both came in top 50, with 33rd and 49th place finishes. The final 2 scorers for the boys were Zion Koch (70th), and Zaven Rodriguez (80th). The Dragons boys overall were 11th of 21 teams with 274 places. The Dragons girls were eighth of 20 teams overall with a score of 201. Homestead (41) won the overall boys title over Center Grove (69). Westfield (79) won the girls title over Carmel (82). The Dragons next meet will be Saturday, August 29th, for the combined Mt. Vernon Invitational/Hancock County meet at Mt. Vernon High School.
