New Palestine High School

The New Palestine cross country teams competed in one of the state's biggest meets Saturday, the Nike XC Town Twilight race at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. The race, held under the lights on the eventual State Finals course, featured teams from five states. The boys finished 46th out of 87 teams in the open race. Jake Cooper led the Dragons with an 86th-place finish and a time of 17:09. Gavin Smith finished 241st (18:08), Sam Ragsdale 309th (18:38), Jacob Collins 343rd (18:57) and Hayden Taylor 383rd (19:21). The Dragons girls were 20th of 54 teams in the open race. Courtney Study finished eighth (20:18). Cami Massari was 79th (21:47), Addison Uhl 85th (21:52), Heidi Bloomer 189th (23:23) and Evelyn Kell 222nd (24:00). The Dragons are next in action Oct. 7 at the New Palestine Invitational.
