Volleyball wins Richmond Invitational

The New Palestine girls volleyball team won the Richmond Invitational Saturday, sweeping four matches in straight sets. The Dragons' victory marks their second invitational title this season and improves their record to 23-4. The Dragons opened the day with a 25-16, 25-14 victory over Greenwood Christian, with Bella Brownfield contributing seven kills and Azure Flagle 10 digs. The Dragons finished pool play with a 25-10, 25-15 victory over Winchester. Hayden Ramsey had seven kills. Brownfield added six kills and two aces. Sam Gooding tallied 20 assists. Makaeli Johnson had six digs. In the semifinal match, the Dragons beat Richmond 25-18, 25-20. Kyndra Monteith had six digs and four aces. Natalie Sevier added eight kills and Ramsey seven. Gooding had 21 assists. Flagle added 19 digs. The Dragons faced Greenwood Christian for the second time in the day - and third this season - in the title match and won 25-12, 25-15. Rachel Burke had five kills and four aces. Brownfield added seven kills and Josie Corbett six. Gooding tallied 20 assists. The Dragons are next in action Monday at Noblesville.
