The New Palestine girls soccer team won a piece of the Hoosier Heritage Conference championship Friday morning as the result from a lightning-delayed game from Wednesday was declared official. The Dragons led New Castle 4-0 in the 21st minute when lightning led to a long postponement. The teams could not agree on a reschedule date and agreed to declare it an official game. Ashlyn Sanford, Tylar Whitaker, Rylee Hurst and Vivian Miller scored the goals for the Dragons, who finish conference play with a 6-1 mark and are 9-5-1 headed into the sectional, where they play host Shelbyville at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round.
