The New Palestine boys soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Pendleton Heights Thursday on Senior Night at Kelso Stadium. The Dragons finish the season with a 6-1 conference mark and share the Hoosier Heritage Conference title with PH. The Dragons are 8-8 overall headed into the sectional. The first half was evenly-played with few chances - each team had one shot and no dangerous opportunities. In the second half, PH broke through with a goal on a counterattack and a long ball -played up the right side in the 53rd minute. In the next minute, the Arabians attacked up the right side again, but Jake Wells made a point-blank save to keep the deficit at one. PH was awarded a penalty on the ensuing corner, which it missed. The Dragons had two solid chances - a 60th-minute free kick by Drew Potter went into the mixer where it was played to Paxton Holmes far-post. His attempt went just wide. In the 70th minute, Elliott Canova crossed the ball to the top of the box for Cohen Wintin, whose top-corner shot was stopped with a diving save. In the interim, an apparent goal by Eli Martin was ruled offside. PH scored an insurance goal in the 77th minute after the Dragons appeared to have won a throw, but after some deliberation, were called for a foul and PH scored moments after the free kick. The Dragons open sectional play at home Wednesday against either Greenfield-Central or Connersville.
