Will Clark tied the New Palestine 18-hole school record with a 70 as he led the Dragons to a victory at Wednesday's Hawk's Tail Invitational. The meet served as a preview for Monday's sectional, which will also be at Hawk's Tail. The Dragons shot 306 to beat Mt. Vernon (309) by three strokes. Eastern Hancock (319) was third, and the New Palestine white team was fourth in the nine-team event with a 332. Clark shot six birdies en route to his two-under par day, in which he shot 34 on the front nine and 36 on the back. He tied a record set by teammate Luke Cofer earlier this season. Cofer shot a 75, including an even-par 36 on the back. Andrew Wooton added a 79, also shooting a 36 on the back nine. Cooper Hurst shot an 82. Jackson Clark's 86 was the fifth score. The New Palestine White team also had several solid scores and personal bests. Tyler Walter led the Dragons with an 81. Jackson Smith shot 82, Seth Stephenson 84 and Jace Gaines 85. Gavin Berry's 87 was the fifth score. The Dragons next compete in Monday's sectional at Hawk's Tail.
