The New Palestine girls tennis team posted a 4-1 victory over Greenfield-Central in Wednesday's opening round of the Mt. Vernon sectional. The Dragons advance to face Mt. Vernon in Thursday's 5 p.m. championship match. The Dragons posted four straight-set wins. Riley Watts won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Macy Thomas won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3. At doubles, Alyssa Appleby/Elliott Graham won 6-3, 6-4, while Addison Ballard/Alyssa Beller won 6-4, 6-1. Arabella Deisher fell 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. The Dragons will take a 13-8 record into the title match.
