CC opens season at Zionsville

The New Palestine cross country teams both finished 12th in the combined standings at Saturday's season-opening Zionsville Invitational. Taking the fastest times from each race, the Dragons girls tallied 329 places and finished 12th of 15 teams. The boys tallied 369 places and finished 12th of 16 teams. The upper and underclassmen run separate 4K races to start the year. The Dragon boys finished 10th in the junior/senior race, led by Cody Crawmer's 59th-place finish (14:49). Jacob Collins finished 88th (15:21), Isaac Poetz 63rd (15:36), Connor Lapenta 64th (15:56) and Will Hahn 67th (16:18). The Dragons were also 12th in the freshman/sophomore boys race, led by Gavin Smith's 51st-place finish (14:49). Jacob Cooper was 69th (15:08), Charlie Rigsbee 101st (15:47), Hayden Taylor 105th (15:56) and Sam Ragsdale 18th (16:13). The Dragons were ninth in the junior/senior girls race. Courtney Study finished 34th (17:05), Alexis Baynes 69th (18:29), Edie Schwarb 70th (18:30), Cami Massari 81st (19:05) and Aislyn Garrett 144th (22:09). The Dragons were 10th in the freshman/sophomore race. Heidi Bloomer was 98th (19:12), Madilyn Manes 126th (20:01), Addiley Yoder 144th (21:04), Evelyn Kell 145th (21:04) and Lily Westrate 159th (21:40). The Dragons are next in action Wednesday at the Pendleton Heights Arabian Roundup, which commences at 6 p.m.
