Cooper, Study win All-HHC honors

New Palestine's Jake Cooper and Courtney Study both earned All-Hoosier Heritage Conference honors in Saturday's HHC cross country meet at Blue River Park in Shelbyville. Both Dragons teams finished sixth in the eight-team conference. The Dragons girls tallied 136 places. Mt. Vernon (37), Pendleton Heights (57) and Greenfield-Central (108) took the top three spots. Yorktown (124) and New Castle (134) also finished ahead of the Dragons, who beat Delta (165) and Shelbyville (195). Study finished 11th overall in 20:27.75 to earn All-HHC honors. Cami Massari finished 21st (21:11.36), Addison Uhl 29th (21:49.11), Amelia Stone 47th (23:16.42) and Heidi Bloomer 48th (23:17.28). The Dragons boys also finished sixth with 149 places. Greenfield-Central (32), Mt. Vernon (54) and Yorktown (81) took the top three spots. Pendleton Heights (85) and Delta (144) were fourth and fifth. The Dragons finished ahead of Shelbyville (189) and New Castle (228). Cooper finished 15th overall in the boys race, running the 5K course in 16:58.28, taking the final All-HHC medal. Gavin Smith finished 27th (17:48.54), Jacob Collins 39th (18:09.79), Sam Ragsdale 43rd (18:27.28) and Ryan Cain 54th (19:23.27).
