Volleyball outlasts New Castle in thriller

The New Palestine volleyball team outlasted New Castle 20-25, 28-26, 25-20, 25-22 in a four-set thriller Thursday at NPHS. The victory improved the Dragons' record to 17-3 on the season and 2-2 in the HHC. Bella Brownfield had 17 kills and 13 assists to post a double-double. She also had two blocks. Hayden Ramsey added 12 kills and three blocks, while Natalie Sevier tallied 10 kills and two blocks. Rachel Burke added nine kills and two blocks. Sam Gooding had 46 assists and 14 digs to also tally a double-double. Azure Flagle led the Dragons' defense with 31 digs and three aces. Makaeli Johnson had 20 digs. Kyndra Monteith had 14 digs. "Such an amazing conference win tonight," Dragons coach Kelli Gabehart said. "We battled all night long. We executed when it mattered most and got the job done. Each player stepped up and played lights out. We battled from behind in almost every set. I am so so proud of our Dragons." The Dragons are next in action Monday at Franklin Central.
