Track teams ninth at Zionsville

The New Palestine track and field teams both finished ninth at Friday's Zionsville Invitational. The Dragons boys tallied 20 points. Brownsburg (147), Harrison (100) and Avon (96) took the top three spots. The Dragons girls scored 45 points, finishing just behind eighth-place West Lafayette, which had 47. Harrison (94), Westfield (78.5) and Brownsburg (73.5) took the top three spots. The Dragons' quartet of Elena Daugherty, Olivia Weaver, Adi Smith and Hailey Pardieck won the 4x800 relay (9:54.97). Among the other top finishers for the Dragons girls were Pardieck, who was second in the 3200 (11:05.50). Abby Journay was third in the 200 (25.59) and long jump (17-7.5) and fourth in the high jump (5-2). Adi Smith was 11th in the 3200 (11:58.21). Lillie Abernathy was 12th in shot put (33-1) and Cadyn Brown 14th (31-9.5). The 4x100 relay of Cayanna Brown, Caylee Brown, Marly Turso and Addison Lindell was sixth (52.23). Mike Bauer won the 1600 for the Dragons boys, running the mile in 4:20.47. Paxton Holmes was wighth in the long jump (20-3.25). He was also ninth in the 300 hurdles (41.72). The 4x100 relay of Holmes, Will Bardonner, Tyler Graves and Bryce Neuner was fifth (44.07). The 4x400 relay of Holmes, Bardonner, Joe Bauer and Mike Bauer was eighth (3:34.57).
