CC competes at Shelbyville

The New Palestine cross country teams competed in Saturday's Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational at the Blue River Cross Country Course. The Dragons girls finished fourth of eight teams in the large school division with 138 places. Mt. Vernon (38), Roncalli (38) and Fishers (59) took the top three spots. The Dragons were 26 places ahead of fourth-place Franklin Central. Courtney Study led the Dragons with a 13th-place finish (20:30.53). Cami Massari finished 30th (21:33.25), Addison Uhl 33rd (21:42.79), Amelia Stone 45th (22:34.41) and Heidi Bloomer 51st (23:10.64). The Dragons boys finished eighth in the nine-team large school division, tallying 194 places. Fishers (24)_, Mt. Vernon (52) and Carmel (101) took the top three spots. Jake Cooper led the Dragons with an 18th-place finish (16:41.94). Gavin Smith finished 45th (17:40.17), Jacob Collins 54th (18:09.54), Sam Ragsdale 58th (18:26.19) and Charlie Rigsbee 65th (18:49.38). The Dragons next compete Sept. 23 in the HHC meet, which will also be held at the Blue River course in Shelbyville.
