Tennis goes 2-1 at Plainfield

The New Palestine girls tennis team went 2-1 at Saturday's Plainfield Invitational. The Dragons started the day with a 4-1 victory over Seymour. Arabella Deisher won 7-5, 6-2 and Riley Watts won 6-4, 6-3 at singles. Alyssa Appleby/Elliott Graham won 6-1, 6-4 and Addison Ballard/Alyssa Beller won 6-4, 6-2 at doubles. Sophie Munson fell 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. They fell 4-1 to Plainfield in the second match, with Ballard/Beller winning 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. Deisher fell 7-6(3), 6-1; Watts dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision and Munson fell 6-2, 6-0. Appleby/Graham split sets and lost in a super-tiebreaker 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-6. The Dragons finished the day with a 4-1 victory over Roncalli. Watts won 6-4, 6-3 and Munson posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at singles. Appleby/Graham won 6-0, 6-2 and Ballard/Beller won 6-3, 6-1 to sweep the doubles. The lone loss was a tight 7-5, 7-5 decision by Ellie Armstrong at No. 3 singles. The Dragons are now 6-3 on the season. They next compete Tuesday at home against Greenfield-Central.
