Track sweeps Arabians

The New Palestine track and field teams finished their dual meet season Thursday with a sweep at Pendleton Heights. The Dragons girls won 81-51, while the boys posted a close 67-65 victory. The Dragons swept a number of events. Brynn Richey (6:03.0), McKenzie Hacker and Sydney Pool took the top three spots in the 1600. Taylor Stone (12:58.38), Erin Kihiu and Sage Harrison swept the 3200. Savannah Baird (8-0), Jozlynn Hart and Kylie Knoop swept the pole vault, while Cadyn Brown (101-10), Cara Foster and Victoria Miano took the top three spots in discus. Lillie Abernathy (32-10), Cadyn Brown and Caylee Brown swept the shot put. Other winners for the Dragons girls were Abby Journay in the 200 (26.46) and high jump (5-0), Taylor Burke in the 100 hurdles (17.00) and 300 hurdles (50.19) and the 4x800 relay (10:38.39). Individuals finishing second were Olivia Weaver in the 800 and Journay in the long jump. Nick Holland (2:11.87), Ethan Kihiu and Hayden Flanagan swept the 800. Other winners for the Dragons boys were Paxton Holmes in the 300 hurdles (42.17) and long jump (20-8), Bryce Neuner in the 100 (11.74), Gabe Silvey in the 1600 (4:59.98), Will Worth in the pole vault (12-0), Colin Whetsel in the shot put (42-0) and the 4x100 relay (43.69). Individuals finishing second were Will Bardonner in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Zane Smith in the 400, Kihiu in the 1600, Lucas Lester in the discus and Ryken Brown in the shot put. The Dragons are next in action May 1 at the Zionsville Invitational.
