New Palestine High School

The New Palestine girls golf team celebrated its three seniors Monday, then defeated Pendleton Heights 172-196 at The Links. Lauren Appleby, Hanna Beller and Kate Stanfield were all honored prior to the match for their four years leading a program that has won conference and sectional championships. Freshman Lauren Deering was match medalist with a 36, shooting four birdies and needing only 15 putts. Appleby shot 44. Beller and Lily Kirchner each shot 46. Katie Kelley added a 48 and Stanfield a 50. The Dragons also won the JV match 203-225, with Janie Hamilton earning medalist honors with a 47 and Kalle Jones shooting 49. The Dragons (11-2) finish the regular season Tuesday at Arrowhead GC against Mt. Vernon.
