Track teams third, fourth at Chatard

The New Palestine track and field teams competed at Saturday's Bishop Chatard Invitational. The Dragons boys finished third in the five-team field with a 59, finishing behind West Lafayette (98) and Chatard (83). NP beat Heritage Christian (47) and Cathedral (42). The Dragons girls were fourth with 52 points. Chatard (83), Cathedral (78) and West Lafayette (70) took the top spots. Heritage Christian was fifth with 42. The Dragons started off the meet well, winning the girls 4x800 relay. Hailey Pardieck, Olivia Weaver, Adi Smith and Elena Daugherty posted a time of 9:55.81, winning by 14 seconds. Pardieck also won the 3200 in 11:14.06. Caylee Brown was second in shot put. Cadyn Brown placed second in discus, with Cara Foster third. Cora Kissel finished third in the 300 hurdles. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday with a triangular meet with Rushville at Connersville. Mike Bauer won the 1600 for the Dragons boys in 4:27.37, and was also second in the 3200. Paxton Holmes won the 300 hurdles in 40.96, with Will Bardonner placing third. Holmes, Bardonner, Tyler Graves and Bryce Neuner were second in the 4x100 relay. Zion Koch was third in the 800. Will Worth was third in pole vault. Holmes placed third in long jump.
