Girls track wins, boys second at Shelbyville

The New Palestine girls track and field team won a triangular meet Thursday at Shelbyville, while the boys finished second. The Dragons girls scored 69 points to beat Greenfield-Central (63) and Shelbyville (35). The boys finished second with 64 points. G-C had 66, Shelbyville 39.5. Winners for the Dragons girls were Hailey Pardieck in the 1600 (5:15.06) and 800 (2:26.52), Addison Lindell in the 200 (28.37), Elena Daugherty in the 3200 (11:53.07), Abby Journay in the high jump (5-2) and long jump (17-9) and Savannah Baird in pole vault (8-6) Individuals finishing second were Taylor Burke in the 100 hurdles, Abby Journay in the 400 and Lillie Abernathy in shot put. Winners for the Dragons boys were Paxton Holmes in the 110 hurdles (15.68) and 300 hurdles (41.94), the 4x800 relay of Carson Cooper, J.T. Koch, Nick Holland and Mike Bauer (8:46.54), and the 4x100 relay of Will Bardonner, Holmes, Tyler Graves and Neuner (43.48). Individuals finishing second were Bryce Neuner in the 100, Ethan Kihiu in the 1600, Zane Smith in the 400, Bardonner in the 300 hurdles, Will Worth in pole vault and Zane Smith in the long jump. The Dragons boys are now 2-1 on the season. The girls are 3-0. They next compete Saturday in the Chatard Invitational.
