CC teams finish third at Whiteland

The New Palestine cross country teams had a solid day Saturday at the Whiteland Invitational. The Dragons boys finished third in the 12-team field, while the girls finished third in a 10-team field. The boys tallied 97 places, finishing behind Greenwood (40) and Whiteland (65). The Dragons finished ahead of Rushville (132), Eastern Greene (161) and seven other schools. The Dragons had three runners in the top 14. Jake Cooper finished fourth in the race in 17:17.5. Gavin Smith was 13th (18:05.3), Jacob Collins 14th (18:10.2), Sam Ragsdale 31st (18:57.9) and Charlie Rigsbee 39th (19:15.6). The girls tallied 105 places, finishing behind Whiteland (45) and Greenwood (64). The Dragons finished ahead of Indy Genesis (113), Eastern Greene (148) and five other schools. Courtney Study led the Dragons with a seventh-place finish (20:57.9). Cami Massari placed 17th (22:03.5), Addison Uhl 21st (22:34.3), Amelia Stone 22nd (22:38.5) and Heidi Bloomer 41st (23:36.6). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 16 at the Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational.
