New Palestine High School

The New Palestine 200 medley relay team of Reese Cox, Blake Hurst, Jake Myers and Sam Dobbins won a sectional title Saturday, leading the New Palestine boys swimming and diving team to a sectional runner-up finish. The medley relay posted a time of 1:41.06 to win the title by 0.41 seconds. They advance to next week's State Finals at the Indiana University Natatorium. The Dragons also set two school records. Cox set the record in the 200 IM at 2:05.17. He finished fourth. Myers set the mark in the 100 butterfly in 53.99 seconds. He was second. The Dragons had a trio of other top-two finishes. Myers tied for second in the 50 freestyle. Jalen Thompson was second in the 100 freestyle. The 200 free relay team of Cox, Hurst, Thompson and Myers also placed second. The Dragons tallied 335.5 points, finishing second to Greenfield-Central (495.5). NP finished ahead of New Castle (256), Centerville (237), Mt. Vernon (227) and five other teams.
