Boys swim sets two records in sectional prelims

Two New Palestine swimmers set school records Thursday night in the preliminaries of the New Palestine sectional. Reese Cox broke the school record in the 200 IM (2:02.84), while Jake Myers broke it in the 100 butterfly (53.88). The Dragons advanced 14 swims to Saturday's championship finals and nine more to the consolation finals, including sending three swimmers to the championship final in the 50 freestyle. Cox (3rd, 200 IM) & Myers (2nd, 100 fly and 3rd, 50 free) will be the highest individual seeds. All three relays also finished third in the prelims. The diving preliminaries will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday. The swimming and diving finals will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.
