Girls CC fifth, boys sixth at Marion

The New Palestine girls cross country team finished fifth out of 11 teams in the large school race at Saturday's Marion Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Dragons tallied 151 places. Norwell (72), Pendleton Heights (78), Fort Wayne Dwenger (82) and Marion (134) took the top four spots. The Dragons finished ahead of New Castle (157), Richmond (159), Concord (161) and three other teams. Courtney Study finished sixth overall in 20:42.4. Cami Massari was 26th (21:55.2), Addison Uhl 43rd (22:57.2), Heidi Bloomer 44th (23:00.9) and Amelia Stone 45th (23:01.7). The Dragons boys finished sixth out of 13 teams with 163 places, finishing behind Marion (64), Concord (74), DeKalb (116), Fort Wayne Dwenger (133) and Norwell (138). The Dragons finished ahead of Delta (166), Fort Wayne Snider (178), Muncie Central (184) and four other teams. Jacob Cooper led the Dragons with a fifth-place finish in 16:58.9. Gavin Smith was 23rd (17:52.8), Jacob Collins 36th (18:26.8), Charlie Rigsbee 51st (19:11.3) and Sam Ragsdale 52nd (19:12.0). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 9 at the Whiteland Invitational.
