New Palestine junior Isabelle Tull broke her own 11-dive school record to win her third straight sectional championship, leading the Dragons girls swimming and diving team to a third-place sectional finish. Tull scored 418.90, besting her record mark of 401.30 from last year's sectional. She will advance to Tuesday's diving regional at Plainfield. The Dragons had a number of other big swims to finish third with 328 points, finishing behind Greenfield-Central (546) and Mt. Vernon (381). The Dragons finished well ahead of the rest of the 11-team field - led by Shelbyville (193), Richmond (141) and New Castle (138). NP's Anna Doolin was named Coach of the Year. Lillie Abernathy finished second in the 200 IM and posted the second-fastest time in school history in 2:21.70. Abernathy also had a top-three finish in the 100 breaststroke. Ireland Armstrong posted two top 10 all-time swims. She finished third in the 100 backstroke, with her time of 1:05.62 fourth-best in school history. She was fourth in the 500 free (5:45.75), the 10th-fastest time in NPHS history. Armstrong and Abernathy teamed up with Gwen Melby and Isabelle Singer to finish second in the 400 free relay. They teamed up with Arianna Tull and Piper Schaefer to finish third in the 200 medley relay.
