Volleyball drops conference opener

The New Palestine volleyball team dropped a tight 25-21, 25-23, 30-28 match to Greenfield-Central Thursday in the Dragons' conference opener. The Dragons fell to 9-2 on the season with the loss. Bella Brownfield had 13 kills and eight digs, while Rachel Burke had 13 kills and four digs to lead the Dragons. Hayden Rasmey added 10 kills. Natalie Sevier had four kills and five digs. Sam Gooding tallied a double-double with 11 digs and 39 assists. Azure Flagle led the defense with 24 digs, while Makaeli Johnson added six digs. The Dragons won the JV match in two sets. The Dragons are next in action Wednesday at Lutheran.
