The New Palestine girls soccer team played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday with Franklin Central. Tylar Whitaker scored the Dragons' goal early in the contest on a great buildup as they quickly moved the ball up the field from their own end that ended with Hannah Sund laying off a ball for Whitaker to beat two defenders and score. FC scored on a penalty kick after an unfortunate bounce led to a handball in the box late in the first half to level the score. The second half was played scoreless while both teams challenged each other's back line and keeper. Kylee Beranek came up with several key saves to keep the game tied 1-1. Bethany Blachly won the team's hard hat award. The Dragons (3-2-1) are next in action Thursday at Yorktown, with a 5:30 p.m. varsity kickoff. The Dragons dropped the JV game 1-0.
