Swimmers sweep Senior Night

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams had a big Senior Night, sweeping visiting Connersville. The Dragons boys won 112-63, while the girls won 143-37. Winners for the Dragons girls were Isabelle Singer in the 200 free (2:19.60) and 500 free (6:24.68), Lillie Abernathy in the 50 free (28.45) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.80), Ireland Armstrong in the 200 IM (2:36.49), Isabelle Tull in diving (218.20), Gwen Melby in the 100 butterfly (1:19.86), Piper Schaefer in the 100 free (1:06.06) and Ellie Ragsdale in the 100 backstroke (1:18.19). The Dragons also swept the relays, with Schaefer, Armstrong, Melby and Ansley Tucker winning the 200 medley relay (2:18.98), Isabelle Tull, Arianna Tull, Abigail Singer and Isabelle Singer winning the 200 free relay (1:58.77) and Schaefer, Melby, Abigail Singer and Isabelle Singer winning the 400 free relay (4:25.79). Individuals finishing second were Abigail Singer in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, Arianna Tull in the 100 free, Madi Bard in the 500 free and Armstrong in the 100 breaststroke. Winners for the Dragons boys were Reese Cox in the 50 free (25.04), Hudson Hughes in diving (146.65), Sam Dobbins in the 100 butterfly (1:01.83), Parker Hurst in the 100 free (55.87), Jake Myers in the 100 backstroke (1:04.41), the 200 free relay of Dobbins, Myers, Blake Hurst and Cox (1:36.88) and the 400 free relay of Dobbins, Noah Merchant, Max Watson and Jalen Thompson (3:45.39). Individuals finishing second were Cox in the 200 free, Parker Hurst in the 200 IM, Kaden Curren in the 50 free, Aaron Lake in the 100 butterfly, Merchant in the 100 free, Thompson in the 500 free and Blake Hurst in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons boys are now 6-4 on the season. The girls finish their season 7-5 in dual meets. The Dragons are next in action Saturday at the Warren Central Warrior Invitational.
