Tennis fifth at Noblesville

The New Palestine tennis team placed fifth in Saturday's eight-team Noblesville Invitational. At No. 1 singles, Moses Haynes dropped his first match in a super-tiebreaker 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 to Noblesville. He won 6-0, 6-3 over Northwestern in the consolation round. Carson Rush subbed in for the fifth-place match and fell 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 singles, Arjomand Khokhar finished third. He won his first match 6-0, 6-0 over Pike, then lost the semifinal match 6-2, 6-1 to Mt. Vernon. In the third-place match, he won 6-3, 7-6 over Northwestern. At No. 3 singles, Brady Torzewski won 6-1, 6-1 over Lowell. Joel Dorval played the next two matches, falling 6-3, 6-2 to Chesterton and 6-2, 6-2 to Mt. Vernon. At No. 1 doubles, Max Havel/Joey McPike won 6-1, 6-3 over Northwestern, then fell 6-1, 6-3 to Plainfield. In the third-place match, Havel/Luke Bartusek fell 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 in a super-tiebreaker. At No. 2 doubles, Eli Sloan/Tyler Wilson lost 6-0, 7-5 to Plainfield. Wilson/Andrew Hahn then lost 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 to Northwestern and won the seventh-place match 6-4, 6-1 over Lowell. The Dragons are next in action Monday at home against Eastern Hancock.
