Gymnastics wins season opener at Connersville

The New Palestine gymnastics team won its season opener Tuesday, beating Connersville 106-98.9 on the road. Lexi Hall won on vault, bars and shared first place with Kalle Jones on floor. Hall also won the all-around with a score of 36.05. On vault, the Dragons swept the top four spots. Hall tallied 9.3, Olivia Frank 8.825, Lynzie Stiller 8.75 and Sophia Delgado 8.7. On bars, Hall tallied 8.425 to win. Olivia Clark was second (8.325) and Stiller third (8.225). Frank was fifth with a 7.725 score. On floor, Hall and Jones both scored 9.6 to win. Frank was second (9.45) and Stiller third (9.3). Eden Coleman was sixth (8.725). The Dragons' 28.65 team score on floor was a school record. On beam, Hall finished second (8.725), Jones third (8.45) and Coleman fifth (8.325). In addition to Hall's winning all-around score of 36.05, Stiller was third (33.8) and Frank fourth (33.0). The Dragons are back in action Saturday at the Franklin Central Invitational.
