Girls basketball falls at Bloomington North

The New Palestine girls basketball team fell behind by double digits in the second quarter Thursday and was unable to rally in a 60-47 loss at Bloomington North. Sadey Hughbanks scored 18 points and Haven Flagle 15 to lead the Dragons, who are now 12-4 on the season. Brooklyn Crim scored five first-quarter points and Hughbanks tallied the period's last four to forge an 11-all tie after a quarter. But Bloomington North had five three-point possessions in the second quarter, outscoring the Dragons 22-10 to take a 33-21 lead at the break. Flagle scored the Dragons' last six points of the quarter, with a three-point play and a 3-pointer. Gabbie Brown also hit a triple in the frame. Hughbanks scored nine points in the third quarter, but the deficit remained 12 after three, at 45-33. In the fourth, Flagle tallied seven points, Hughbanks four and Kendra Moore hit a 3-pointer, but the Dragons were unable to rally. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at home against Triton Central.
