The New Palestine boys soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision Saturday at Lawrence Central. The Dragons and Bears played an even, mostly defensive first half, with LC having the top two opportunities. Jake Wells made a diving save on a 1v1 chance in the third minute and Drew Potter headed a ball off the line for a defensive save in the 34th. The Dragons came out flying in the second half, creating a number of early chances. In the 43rd minute, Cohen Wintin sprung Cole Christopher for a chance in tight, but a shot from 12 yards out was stopped. In the next minute, Elliott Canova created a chance by dribbling into the box from the left side, but his shot was deflected out for a corner by the keeper. The Dragons kept up the pressure and Andon Colclazier just missed high from 18 on the ensuing play. LC scored in the 55th minute as they outnumbered the Dragons on a counterattack. The Bears added another goal in the 69th minute. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at Mt. Vernon. The Dragons dropped the JV game 5-0.
