Girls swimming finishes fifth in HHC

The New Palestine girls swimming team finished fifth in Saturday's Hoosier Heritage Conference meet at the NPHS Natatorium. Isabelle Tull was the Dragons' top placer, finishing second in diving with a score of 374.70. In the 100 breaststroke, Lillie Abernathy was third (1:10.99) and Piper Schaefer fifth. Abernathy also had a sixth-place finish in the 200 IM. Ireland Armstrong was seventh in the 100 backstroke and eighth in the 500 freestyle. All three relays finished fifth. Arianna Tull, Schaefer, Abernathy and Armstrong contested the 200 medley relay; Isabelle Tull, Jozlynn Hart, Ellie Ragsdale and Cadyn Brown the 200 free relay; and Gwen Melby, Isabelle Singer, Abernathy and Armstrong the 400 free relay. Greenfield-Central (515), Delta (364) and Yorktown (308) took the top three spots. The Dragons scored 240 points to finish fifth. The Dragons boys will contest the HHC meet next week.
