Swimmers open post-Christmas schedule against FC

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams opened the post-Christmas portion of the schedule Saturday with a home dual meet against Franklin Central. The Dragons girls dropped a 125-60 decision to the Flashes. The Dragons boys fell 127-58. Winning for the Dragons boys were the 200 free relay team of Reese Cox, Blake Hurst, Jalen Thompson and Jake Myers (1:37.40). Individuals finishing second were Cox in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Myers in the 100 butterfly and Hurst in the 100 breaststroke. Individuals finishing second for the Dragons girls were Cadyn Brown in the 50 freestyle, Isabelle Tull in diving and Piper Schaefer in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons boys are now 4-4 on the season. The girls are 5-5. The Dragons are next in action with the Hoosier Heritage Conference meets at the NPHS Natatorium. The girls will host the HHC meet Jan. 3, and the boys will compete Jan. 10.
