The New Palestine volleyball team jumped ahead early and never let up Thursday in a 25-10, 25-11, 25-7 victory over Whiteland. The victory improved the Dragons' record to 8-1. The Dragons' defense was strong, as Azure Flagle tallied 16 digs and two aces, while Makaeli Johnson added 13 digs and three aces. Kyndra Monteith had eight digs. Rachel Burke led a balanced attack with eight kills. Bella Brownfield added seven, Natalie Sevier five kills and two blocks and Josie Corbett four kills. Sam Gooding had 28 assists and four digs. "Great win for us tonight," Dragons coach Kelli Gabehart said. "After going five sets and getting home really late last night, I’m proud of how we responded tonight. We stayed focus and played to our potential which was great to see. It’s still early in the season but we have shown a lot of resilience." The Dragons are next in action Wednesday at home against Warren Central.
