Tull breaks own record as swim/dive sweeps Perry Meridian

Junior Isabelle Tull broke her own school record in diving Thursday, leading the New Palestine swimming and diving teams to a sweep of Perry Meridian. The Dragons girls won 115-65. The Dragons boys won 98-78. Tull's six-dive score was 240.75, shattering her school record set in the season opener. She was one of several winners for the Dragons girls. Also winning were Lillie Abernathy in the 200 freestyle (2:14.46) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.35). Isabelle Singer in the 100 butterfly (1:14.31), Ireland Armstrong in the 500 freestyle (6:08.71), the 200 medley relay team of Gwen Melby, Piper Schaefer, Ellie Ragsdale and Armstrong (2:07.46) and the 200 free relay of Cadyn Brown, Abigail Singer, Schaefer and Abernathy (1:55.43). Individuals finishing second were Ansley Tucker in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Melby in the 200 IM, Cadyn Brown in the 50 freestyle, Isabelle Singer in the 500 freestyle and Armstrong in the 100 backstroke. ] Winners for the Dragons boys were Sam Dobbins in the 200 freestyle (2:00.22) and 500 freestyle (5:38.82), Jalen Thompson in the 50 freestyle (23.94) and Blake Hurst in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.51). The Dragons also swept the relays. The 200 medley relay of Blake Hurst, Tyler Schmidt, Parker Hurst and Thompson won in 1:52.98. The 200 free relay of Luke Bartusek, Blake Hurst, Thompson and Max Watson won in 1:39.77. The 400 free relay of Watson, Noah Merchant, Bartusek and Dobbins swam 3:49.84. Individuals finishing second were Blake Hurst in the 200 IM, Merchant in the 100 butterfly, Aaron Lake in the 100 freestyle and Bartusek in the 100 backstroke. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at Mt. Vernon.
