Swim teams split with Cathedral

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams split Tuesday's dual meet with Cathedral at the NPHS Natatorium. The Dragons boys won 119-50, while the girls dropped a 110-73 decision. Winners for the Dragons boys were Reese Cox in the 200 IM (2:19.00), Jalen Thompson in the 100 freestyle (55.57), Sam Dobbins in the 100 backstroke (1:04.63), Tyler Schmidt in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.89), the 200 medley relay of Cox, Blake Hurst, Jake Myers and Dobbins (1:49.91); the 200 free relay of Hurst, Luke Bartusek, Cox and Myers (1:40.30) and the 400 free relay of Noah Merchant, Garrett Elkins, Bartusek and Thompson (3:59.56). Individuals finishing second were Merchant in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Hurst in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Myers in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, Dobbins in the 500 frestyle and Parker Hurst in the 100 breaststroke. Winners for the Dragons girls were Isabelle Tull in diving (203.20) and Lillie Abernathy in the 100 freestyle (1:00.00). Individuals finishing second were Abernathy in the 50 freestyle, Cara Foster in diving, Ireland Arstong in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Piper Schaefer in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons are next in action Dec. 2 at Greenfield-Central.
