Cross country opens season

The New Palestine cross country teams opened their season Saturday at the John Cleland Invitational at Northview Christian Church in Carmel. The Dragons boys finished 15th of 23 teams with 488 points. They were led by Jacob Cooper, who was 61st in 13:42.1 over a 4K course. Jacob Collins was 147th (14:31.4), Gavin Smith 154th (14:34.3), Hayden Taylor 242nd (15:22.6) and Charlie Rigsbee 260th (15:30.8). The Dragons girls finished 17th of 21 teams with 480 points. Courtney Study led the Dragons with a 73rd-place finish in 16:29.7. Cami Massari finished 182nd (18:12.1), Addison Uhl 203rd (18:30.3), Heidi Bloomer 270th (19:21.5) and Evelyn Kell 273rd (19:24.5). The Dragons are next in action Wednesday at the Pendleton Heights Arabian Roundup.
