In preparation for the 2022 NPHS sports season, meet our fall sports coaches. Today's coach is boys soccer coach Brett Canova. Years coaching at NPHS as head coach: Entering 3rd year as head coach Coaching positions held before NPHS: NPHS Boys Soccer JV Coach (2016-2019), Bishop Chatard Boys Soccer Varsity Coach (2002 - 2007), Washington High School Boys Soccer JV and Asst Varsity Coach (1996) Alma mater (HS & college): Washington Catholic High School, University of Evansville Day job (if not a teacher in New Palestine schools): Moser Consulting as Database Administrator and Engagement Manager Twitter handle: @NP_DraogonSoccer Sports played in high school and college. Soccer (high school), Powerlifting (college) What drew you into coaching? Why do you coach?: My love for the game and love of competing got me interested in coaching. My former high school coach offered me my first position as a high school coach that I accepted. After one season I was addicted to coaching and wanted to do it as long as I could. I really enjoy coaching, but the game and coaching have given me so much that I want to continue to coach and give back. Best thing about coaching: Building relationships with the kids and watching the grow on and off the field. Best thing about being part of the New Palestine & NPHS community: I really enjoy the focus on the players and the program rather than winning at all costs. I greatly appreciate being able to coach great kids to the best of their abilities. Your favorite memory/moment from coaching at NPHS: Winning the final conference game of 2022 and securing a share of the championship that year. Your favorite memory/moment from your high school or college playing days, if applicable: Training with and watching top level Division I players.
