New Palestine High School

In an invitational featuring several of the state's top teams, the New Palestine golf team shot 357 Saturday to finish fifth at the 17-team Lapel Invitational. Lauren Deering led the Dragons in the event at Edgewood Golf Club in Anderson, shooting an 84. She led the Dragons with 32 putts over 18 holes. Katie Kelley added a 90. Lily Kirchner shot 91, while Lauren Appleby and Kate Stanfield each shot 92s. Noblesville won the event with a 302, while Westfield shot 341, Hamilton Southeastern 342 and NorthWood 352 to round out the top five ahead of the Dragons. The Dragons are next in action Thursday at The Links against Lawrence Central and Southport.
