The New Palestine baseball team routed Pike 11-2 Saturday for a Senior Day victory.
The Dragons broke the game open with a five-run third inning, then added a run in the fourth, four in the fifth and one more in the sixth.
Tate Hackler pitched a complete game for the victory, allowing one earned run and three hits in seven frames. He struck out nine.
Kaiden Kirkwood led an eight-hit attack with two doubles and two RBI. Carter Stogsdill also was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Zayden Stiller hit a three-run homer. Maddox Manes and Luke Legault also homered. Espich added a hit.
The Dragons’ big third inning began with Stogsdill’s leadoff double. After back-to-back hit batters and an error loaded the bases and plated a run, a wild pitch added another. Kirkwood’s double scored two runs, and Espich’s single plated another.
Kirkwood drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. In the fifth, Stiller and Manes hit back-to-back homers to left. Legault added a solo blast in the sixth.
The Dragons (6-9) are back in action at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Warren Central.
