Girls Varsity Softball · No. 4 softball blanks No. 7 Center Grove

The fourth-ranked New Palestine softball team got a stellar pitching performance from Sam Booe Wednesday, blanking No. 7 Center Grove 1-0.

Booe pitched a complete game, scattering four hits and a walk while striking out nine. She pitched out of a two-on, none-out jam in the third by inducing a groundout, popout and lineout. In the fourth, CG got a two out single and double, but Booe induced a groundout to end the threat. She faced one batter more than the minimum the final three innings.

The Dragons scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the third, when Alaina Miller walked and Aglaia Rudd singled to lead off. Miller advanced to third on Lexi Campbell’s fielder’s choice and scored on Grace Paquette’s sacrifice fly.

Kendal Calvert led the Dragons’ five-hit attack with two singles. Paquette, Sydney Oliver and Rudd also had singles.

The Dragons are now 15-0. They next play Thursday at home against No. 10 Shelbyville.
