Brendan Tabor had a big game Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and six runs batted in, helping lead the New Palestine baseball team to a 10-3 victory over Shelbyville.
The victory gave the Dragons a 1-1 record, both overall and in HHC play, and split the two-game series with the Golden Bears.
Tabor put NP up 1-0 in the first with an RBI double, driving in Carter Stogsdill. He added a two-run single in a five-run fourth inning and then blasted three-run homer in the sixth.
After an Eli Bruns sacrifice fly extended the lead to 2-o in the second, the Dragons pounced in the fourth. Nolan Cox put NP up 3-1 with an RBI double. Bruns followed with an RBI single, Tabor a two-run hit and Zayden Stiller an RBI single, giving NP four runs on four hits, a walk, an error and a hit batter in the inning and extending the lead to 7-1.
Bruns was 1-for-1 with a two runs and two RBI. Luke Legault and Caleb Davis also had hits, while Stogsdill scored twice.
Reise Quillen was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
The Dragons next play Friday at home against Knightstown.
