The New Palestine baseball team dropped its season opener Tuesday at Shelbyville by a 10-3 score.

Carter Stogsdill led off the season with a home run on the third pitch of the year, but the Golden Bears responded with three runs in each of the first two innings to take a 6-1 lead. In the seventh, Wes Stiller had a sacrifice fly and Nolan Cox an RBI double to add two more runs.

Stogsdill, Zayen Stiller, Maddox Manes and Cox had the Dragons’ four hits, as NP was outhit 10-4.

The Dragons are back in action Wednesday at home against Shelbyville. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
