Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Track teams compete at Chatard

The NewPalestine track and field teams both finished third in a four-way meet Saturday at Chatard.

The Dragon boys finished third with 35.5 points, finishing behind West Lafayette (124), Chatard (55.5) and ahead of Cathedral (29).

The NP girls finished third with 52 points, behind Chatard (93) and West Lafayette (54) and ahead of Cathedral (45).

The Dragon girls won four events. The 4×800 relay team of Brenna Shaw, Courtney Study, Emma Mann and Kendall Mann won with a time of 18:54.58 – 10th all-time in school history. Sydney Miller was a double-winner in shot put (32-10) and discus (98-8). Anna Ackerman won the pole vault (8-0).

Lexi Baynes finished second in the 400. Her time of 1:01.64 was ninth in school history. She also finished fourth in the 200.

Study finished third in the 800. Taylor Kelley was third in the 200 and fourth in the 100. Kendall Mann placed third in the 3200. Emma Mann was fourth in the 1600.

The Dragon boys won two events. Josh Lambdin won the discus with a throw of 131-9 – eighth all-time in school history. Richard Clevenger was second with a throw of 130-1. Nick Bastian won the long jump (20-3).

Grayson Thomas was second in the 200. Will Hahn placed third in pole vault. The Dragons had three fourth-place finishers – Wes Jewell in the 400, Eian Roudebush in the high jump and Greg Ratz in the shot put.

The track and field teams are back in action Tuesday at Greenwood.
