Multiple Teams · Swimmers sting Hornets


The New Palestine swim teams swept Beech Grove Tuesday, with the Dragons boys winning 130-30 and the NP girls winning 114-60.

The Dragon boys had one 1-2-3 sweep, as Jack Schwartz, Ben Miesse and Chase Martin swept the 50 freestyle.

Schwartz and Liam Fuller went 1-2 in the 100 butterfly, as did Miesse and Martin in the 100 freestyle. Fuller and Hayden Stone took the top two places in the 100 backstroke. Austin Lines and Darrell Drake went 1-2 in diving. Other winners for the Dragons were Aidan Kingery in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and Kyle Ellis in the 200 freestyle.

The Dragons swept the relays. Miesse, Martin, Schwartz and Ellis won the 200 medley relay, with Eli Kleine, Kingery, Fuller and Lines finishing second. In the 200 freestyle, Martin, Ellis, Miesse and Schwartz won, with Fuller, Kingery, Jack Anderson and Kleine finishing second. Landon Cavaletto, Stone, Nathan Danz and Cody Koch won the 400 free relay.

Also finishing second was Anderson in the 500 freestyle.

The Dragons girls had two 1-2-3 sweeps – Sullie Leavell, Kyleigh Turner and Bailey Whitaker in the 50 freestyle, and Samantha Booe, Alayna Walker and Izzy Napier in diving. Adrianna Huston and Turner took the top two spots in the 100 freestyle. Other individual winners were Huston in the 200 freestyle, Kayleigh Wright in the 100 butterfly and Leavell in the 500 freestyle.

Claie Lake, Sarah Kleiman, Anne Bauer and Lillie Poag won the 200 medley relay, with Sarina Donahue, Kendall Mann, Booe and Emma Buergelin finishing second. Turner, Wright, Leavell and Huston won both the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.

Also finishing second for the Dragons were Poag in the 100 breaststroke and Wright in the 100 backstroke.

The NP boys are now 4-4 in dual and triangular meets. The Dragons girls are 8-4.

The Dragons are back in the pool Jan. 21 against Connersville.
