Ezra Schwier won the Hancock County individual singles tennis title Saturday.
He defeated Greenfield-Central’s Carson Gibson 6-2, 7-6(7) in the championship match. He won a three-set 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 victory over Mt. Vernon’s No. 1 singles player in the morning semifinal.
Schwier helped lead the Dragons to a second-place finish in the annual four-team tournament.
Caleb Davis also advanced to the title match at No. 3 singles, falling 6-1, 6-1 to his Mt. Vernon opponent in the title match. The Dragons finished in third place in the other three positions.
The Dragons tallied 16 points, finishing second to Mt. Vernon (28). Greenfield-Central tallied 14 points and Eastern Hancock 2.
The Dragons are back in action Monday at home against Pendleton Heights.
