Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls CC wins Whiteland Invitational

The New Palestine girls cross country team won Saturday’s Whiteland Invitational title, sweeping four of the top seven places.

The Dragons tallied 30 places to win the 10-team event, beating Whiteland (44) and Greenwood (136).

Brenna Shaw and Emma Mann took the top two spots in the 5K race. Shaw crossed the finish line in 19:01, while Mann finished in 19:05. Courtney Study was fifth (20:81) and Kendall Mann seventh (20:29). Emily Adam was 15th (21:01). Jocelynn Flagle and Caitlin Urrutia were the Dragons’ sixth and seventh runners, finishing 17th and 18th.

The Dragon boys finished fifth with 191 places, behind Whiteland (28), Greenwood (51), Rushville (80) and Eastern Greene (148).

Hayden Isaacs led the way with a 25th-place finish (18:49). Connor Lapenta was 35th, Harrison Holloway 36th, Cameron Mann 46th and Jacob Collins 50th.

The Dragons are back in action Sept. 19 at the FlashRock Invitational at Northview Christian Church in Carmel.
