Girls Varsity Volleyball · Volleyball falls in opening thriller

The New Palestine volleyball team opened its season Saturday afternoon with a five-set 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-10 loss at Scecina.

Isabella Gizzi had a double-double with 46 assists and 22 digs, while Grace Myers had 38 digs. Jada Hausz led the offense with 14 kills. Kaelyn Armstrong added eight kills and 14 digs.

“Tough loss today,” Dragons coach Kelli Gabehart said. “We had a lot of unforced errors today and had a tough time making adjustments. Scecina was very scrappy and we had a tough time scoring on them. There is definitely a lot of potential with the group and we will get it worked out.”

The Dragons are next in action at home Monday against Connersville, with the JV match beginning at 5:30 p.m.
