The IHSAA has announced a policy limiting spectators for its upcoming tournaments as the state seeks to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
For Saturday’s boys basketball regional, admission will be restricted to the participating teams, essential personnel, credentialed media and close immediate family members of the players, with a maximum of 75 per school. New Palestine will face Lawrence North at 10 a.m. Saturday at Southport, with the championship game slated for 8 p.m. Any already-purchased tickets will not be honored at Southport. Tickets purchased at NPHS may be returned to the school athletic office for a full refund.
New Palestine’s games will be broadcast at NewPalRadio.com. Also, WHMB will offer a tape-delayed broadcast and ISC Sports Network is also planning to broadcast the Southport regional.
For Saturday’s gymnastics State Finals, no spectators will be allowed due to the number of essential personnel, coaches, officials, medical personnel, spotters and meet workers who will be in attendance. The State Finals will be broadcast at IHSAAtv.org, with competition beginning at 1 p.m.
