Multiple Teams · Swimmers sweep senior night


The New Palestine swimming and diving teams swept their senior night Thursday against Connersville.

The Dragon girls won 118-57, while the boys won 118-65.

NP had a pair of 1-2-3 sweeps in the girls meet. Katelyn Trimpe, Arielle Poynter and Moriah Corey swept the 100 freestyle. Bailey Young, Sarah Kleiman and Claire Whisler swept the 500 free. In diving, Karen Shriver and Sam Booe went 1-2. Kyleigh Turner and Sydni WIlson did the same in the 100 backstroke.

Other winners for the NP girls were Trimpe in the 50 free and all three relays. Wilson, Lillie Poag, Booe and Poynter won the 200 medley relay. Trimpe, Corey, Poynter and Young won the 200 free relay. Young, Trimpe, Corey and Whisler took the 400 free relay.

Other individual seconds for the Dragons were Young in the 200 free and Poag in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.

The Dragons had one 1-2-3 sweep in the boys meet, as Chase Siler, Chase Martin and Connor Phipps swept the 100 breaststroke. NP had three 1-2 finishes: Kyle Ellis and Eli Kleine in the 200 freestyle, Siler and Martin in the 200 IM, as well as Damon Estes and Eli Kleine in the 100 butterfly.

Other individual winners were Colin Stacey in diving, Quincy Shirk in the 100 backstroke and Ellis in the 500 freestyle. Siler, Ben Miesse, Kleine and Jack Schwartz won the 200 free relay. Schwartz, Martin, Miesse and Ellis won the 400 free relay. Schwartz also had a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

The Dragons are next in action this weekend at the Warren Central Invitational. Diving events will take place Friday, with swimming Saturday.
