Christian White and Richard Clevenger won Hoosier Heritage Conference wrestling titles Saturday, leading the New Palestine wrestling team to a third-place finish at the conference meet.
White claimed the title at 120 to improve to 21-1 on the season. He won his opening-round match by fall, then beat Delta’s John Robinson 6-3 and New Castle’s Brevan Thrine 8-0.
At 195, Clevenger improved to 20-5 and won the championship. He posted three pins – including a 1:27 fall over New Castle’s Luke Joplin in the semifinal and a 3:57 pin of Yorktown’s Tyson Enis in the title match.
The Dragons had two runners-up. Jack Rossell pinned his first two foes at 106 before falling by a 9-4 decision in the final. At 145, Max Jones pinned his first two foes to get to the title match, where he was defeated by Mt. Vernon’s Chris Wilkerson.
Chase Nelson (132), Zack Hoyt (152) and Tucker Keevers (285) all finished third. Peyton Covington (113), Devan Hill (170) and Will Olive (220) finished fourth. Darin Johnson placed fifth at 138, while Nick Bastian placed sixth at 182.
NP finished third with 185.5 points. Mt. Vernon (240.5) and Greenfield-Central (227.5) finished first and second. NP finished ahead of Pendleton Heights (150), Delta (146), New Castle (119), Yorktown (85) and Shelbyville (70).
The Dragons are back in action Thursday at home against Greenwood.
