Multiple Teams · Swim teams sweep Hornets


The New Palestine swim teams had a strong night Tuesday in a sweep of Beech Grove, with a lot of personal bests.

Karen Shriver broke her own school record in diving.

The Dragon girls won 108-70, while the NP boys beat the Hornets 131-51.

Winners for the Dragon girls were Katelyn Trimpe in the 200 free and 100 back, Arielle Poynter in the 100 freestyle and Bailey Young in the 500 free. Trimpe, Moriah Corey, Poynter and Young won the 200 free relay. Young, Trimpe, Corey and Claire Whisler won the 400 free relay.

Finishing second were Young in the 200 free, Whisler in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, Corey in the 50 free and 100 free, Samantha Booe in diving and Lillie Poag in the 100 breaststroke.

Winners for the Dragon boys were Kyle Ellis in the 200 free and 500 free, Chase Siler in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Jack Schwartz in the 50 free and 100 free, Colin Stacey in diving, Damon Estes in the 100 butterfly and Quincy Shirk in the 100 back. Shirk, Siler, Schwartz and Estes won the 200 medley relay. Siler, Ben Miesse, Estes and Schwartz won the 200 free relay.

Finishing second were Eli Kleine in the 200 free, Miesse in the 50 free and 100 free, Austin Lines in diving, Connor Phipps in the 500 free and Chase Martin in the 100 breaststroke.

The Dragons are back in action Jan. 23 at home against Connersville.
